D Final
1st David Gerard 2nd Matt Williams 3rd Devendra Mahatme
After driving down on Friday 237 miles and 5 hours we set up the caravan ready for the weekend, Saturday morning was very windy on the track but dry this gave everyone time to set up the cars for hopefully a dry meeting, after a spot of lunch back on the track to do some fine turning then from know where the heavens opened up and it poured down for the rest of the afternoon so everyone left the track and back to hotels tents and caravans to dry out.
Up early Sunday to a clear sky and it was looking good for a dry meeting, the only problem was the lake on the track which Didier cleared with help from 5 volunteers and some buckets and brushes and 30 wheel barrows of water taken of the track, at the drivers briefing we could not understand what Didier (race director) was saying the pa system was like a station announcer, then Uncle Bob said a few words without microphone and we all understood him as everyone said….. Ok First heat on the line 9.15 and things started going well (small hiccup with the PA, but shouting sorted that out) the weather was good with sunshine at times everyone had dry qualifiers.
The E final got underway with a dry track , then the D final just got started two laps in and a big shower of rain came down with drivers shouting for rubber tyres as the race turned into a skating rink everyone doing some nice pirouettes but with no extra points lol no one changed tyres because after 5 laps the rain stopped and it was back to racing with David Gerard out in front one lap in front of Matt Williams and Devendra Mahatme 1 lap behind in third place and that’s how it finished.
A Final
1st Steve Brown 2nd Paul Knapton 3rd Tim Wood
All the other finals ran on a dry track and some good racing was going on apart from one or two incidents which some were not happy about.
Then can the A final the warm up was dry and looking good all the pitmen refuelled the car and off to the start on the bend by race control the cars were put down was that a spot of rain ? still counting down 15 secs on the clock 5 4 3 2 1 everyone off the a good start mid way though the first lap yes you guess it the heavens open and it poured and poured the track went very quit with most drivers in the pits for a change of tyres (rubber) it was a different A final as everyone was very cautious of the wet conditions Kevin Taylor was the first to drop out followed very closely by Kyle Branson with water problems Jonathan Dobney was the next to go after 8 laps whole track was steaming, which made for an interesting image as cars were driving though a mild mist hanging about 1' over the track. Adam Walker Catchpole was the next to drop out after only 11 laps the rain was not doing any favours for these top drivers, Ben Kesall was the next out with 39 laps Robin Hammett was still going but the car was very loose with all the rain a couple of nice pirouettes he went off on the back straight with a broken shock we thought he was out but with Fred Singleton his pitman managed to repaired the car and he was back out at this time still with a fighting chance Tim Wood was chasing Paul Knapton and Darren Johnson there was a lot of water on the track and everyone was fighting for grip Steve Brown came home first with 58 laps Paul Knapton was second with 57 laps Tim Wood third with 56 laps and Darren Johnson in forth with 54 and Robin Hammett finished in fifth place with 49 laps the race was exciting if not always close. At the end of this final it stopped raining, no really it did, the rain lasted about 32 mins.

Well done to all the drivers, now the long driver home round 6 next at Halifax on the 22nd July let hope it dry.
